We interviewed School founding Principal Peter Vander Schoor about the history of the old Channel Hall affectionately known as the ‘Gym Shed’. He also spoke about our school's unique history and the new Channel Hall.

A Space for the Community

This amazing development will provide an amazing new community gathering space as well as a new Music room.

The works will be completed in stages. The first stage requires the removal of the old hall and existing wooden playground. The wooden playground has reached the end of its lifespan and a brand new play facilities are planned once the Hall is complete.

The plans for the building have been completed by Jaws architects who have been responsible for developing the more recent building on the Channel campus. This includes the recent two ‘new’ classrooms opened two years ago and the Channel master plan.

Floor Plan

Entry to the hall will be via a double door entry from the end of the building as well as from the covered walkway. There will be a generous sized Music room at the end closest to the Amphitheater and an adjacent store room. It will include a kitchen with a servery window opening to the covered walkway as well as new accessible toilets and storage space.

Once complete the hall will be suitable for indoor sports and community events. We hope have seating for up to 300 people. We'll have a removable stage and new projector and audio equipment installed as part of the build. We hope have the building completed early in 2023.
