Learn - Physical Education Program

At Channel Christian School your child will have the opportunity to be part of a strong and active health and education program.

Our daily fitness session program is 15 minutes of a game-based approach to skills such as catching, throwing, kicking and other gross motor skills.  We link this with our PE program of sports skills for sports that are available in our community.  Your child will have the opportunity to access specialist coaching in sports they may not have tried before through the Sporting Schools initiative from the Federal Government.

Our aim at Channel Christian School is to give your child the chance to do as many sports and recreational activities as possible.  They can go in the Schools Triathlon Challenge, learn volleyball in the Huon and Channel Volleyball Carnival, play soccer on a Saturday morning or help raise money for breast cancer research on our Pink Stumps Day.

At our swimming and athletics carnivals your child will have a safe and welcoming environment to try out their new skills.  We are a part of the Huon and Channel Primary Schools Sports Association which allows us to provide a competitive environment for our athletes.  Each year we join up with other Christian Schools for a Cross Country Running Carnival at Dru Point Reserve.

Our physical education includes more than just physical skills – it also means we encourage health and wellbeing.  Every child will learn about healthy eating with intiatives such as Fruit Break and they will learn how to read nutritional information on food packaging.  In Year 6 they will be part of the ‘Fearfully and Wonderfully Made’ program which teaches about sexual relationships and their growing bodies.

At Channel Christian School your child will be part of Bible-centred discussions about the treatment of others, resilience, respect and encouragement.
